The 2013 MINI Paceman comes in three trims: base, S and John Cooper Works. The base comes with the 1.6L 4-cylinder common across the MINI range. It makes 121 horsepower. The S and John Cooper Works use a turbocharged version of the same engine, but it makes 181 hp in S trim and 215 hp in John Cooper form. So-called "ALL4" all-wheel drive is not available on the base trim and standard on the John Cooper Works. Typical of MINI's value-conscious image, even the base trim comes fully loaded with standard features: 17-inch alloy wheels, speed-sensitive wipers, remote keyless entry and a cooled glove box are just the beginning. Safety features abound in all MINIs as well: anti-lock brakes and stability control as well as front, side and a passenger knee airbags. No fewer than 4 optional wheels are available. Leather seat trim, navigation, HID headlamps and park distance control are just some of the offered options. In addition to the turbocharged engine, the S trim adds fog lamps and a locking differential. The John Cooper Works brings the highest level of MINI performance, with a high-performance rear differential, sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels and special aerodynamic elements to the exterior. Of course the Paceman also follows MINI's highly customizable program for all its vehicles. An array of stripes is available, as are various roof colors and patterns as well as different headlight housings and tinted turn signals.
